Genre: Reggae Kingston2, Jamaica, W.I. Status: On Tour
Once upon a time in Jamaica ‘Land We Love’, a famous female artist of the eighties (Shirley McLean) and a renown radio personality (Owen “O.B” Brown) came together and brought a bouncing baby boy into the world; they called him Gavin. From birth, Gavin has been submerged in and surrounded by music as not only his parents but many of his relatives and family friends have all been intimately involved in the music fraternity. Commercially; his cousin Toots, from Toots and The Maytals, (who many credit as the first person to use the word “Reggae” in song) and the UK based Me&You have been the most successful of the lot thus far.

IndieHitMaker exists because artists cannot directly report their live show sales to SoundScan. Only record labels and distribution companies that pay the annual fees and fit the mandated requirements can qualify for this exclusive program. Since most independent and unsigned artists sell the majority of their CDs at live shows, without IndieHitMaker these sales would go unreported and unaccounted for in US SoundScan sales numbers making it next to impossible for industry executives, deal makers, and A&R to discover you. By simply reporting all your sales to SoundScan, you can significantly increase your awareness within the industry. Sell enough and everyone will know when you get on the Billboard Charts.
