The San Diego Jewish Men's Choir (www.SDJMC.org)
The San Diego Jewish Men's Choir (SDJMC) has been in existence for over 15 years. It is made up of a solid group of more than 28 volunteers from various walks of life, backgrounds, and ages. The members share a common goal, the preservation and promotion of Jewish choral music. They fulfill this mission through concerts, recordings, community outreach events, and appearances at festivals. The choir is affiliated with the Center for Jewish Culture and Creativity in Los Angeles, a non-profit organization sharing similar goals.
Under the musical direction of Ruth Weber, the men’s choir presents over 30 concerts a year throughout the Southern California area. They were recently featured on the 2013 Chabad Telethon, and on the soundtrack of the video Forever Strong, A Tribute to the Survivors of the USS Indianapolis, which will be released in July 2015. They perform music of all styles including, liturgical, pop, folk, gospel and musical theater, and sing in the Hebrew, English, Yiddish, and Ladino languages.
Mayor Todd Gloria kicked off SDJMC’s first Chanukah JAM (Jewish Arts and Music ) Festival. Over 80 performers participated in this festival, and The San Diego Jewish Times wrote, “Chanukah JAM a Sweet Confection.” The choir plans its second Chanukah JAM for Nov. 2015.
In partial fulfillment of their mission, SDJMC released their first album: "Heritage", a compilation of historically significant Jewish Choral Music. The album was a winner in the 2014 Global Music Awards. Part of the proceeds from the sale of each album goes toward distributing free CD’s of this music to Jewish senior homes, senior centers, libraries, and religious schools throughout the U.S. so that the music can be enjoyed for generations to come.
The men’s choir expects to release their next album, “Kochi,” with Grammy Award Winning producer Ricky Kej in May 2015. The album will be a musical celebration of the history of the Jews in India, and will feature historically relevant Jewish music set with traditional instruments from India.

IndieHitMaker exists because artists cannot directly report their live show sales to SoundScan. Only record labels and distribution companies that pay the annual fees and fit the mandated requirements can qualify for this exclusive program. Since most independent and unsigned artists sell the majority of their CDs at live shows, without IndieHitMaker these sales would go unreported and unaccounted for in US SoundScan sales numbers making it next to impossible for industry executives, deal makers, and A&R to discover you. By simply reporting all your sales to SoundScan, you can significantly increase your awareness within the industry. Sell enough and everyone will know when you get on the Billboard Charts.
