It was meant to be that Shakila became the first Indiehitmaker artist to break onto the Top 200 her 11th week charting on Billboard. Although Shakila has built a large fan base in the hundreds of thousands and sold music directly to them for years, it wasn’t until 11 weeks ago when she joined IHM that 11:11 began to count on the charts.
Reporting the digital download sales from her official website has made Shakila the first IHM artist to hit a Billboard consumption based chart, and one of the first independent artists to do so from sales alone. As more people begin to discover her, audio and video streaming will only help her climb the charts.
Shakila is already in the works with her next release on Valentine’s Day February 14th, where she will be working with IHM using Dropkick Music to sell more music and merch while making it count on Billboard, Pollstar, MusicWeek, MusicBiz, A2IM and more charts. Learn More
